Information About Trekking
Trekkers Information Management System

Before each trekking, trekkers must obtain their Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) card. This request is compulsory.

This system will ensure that all details of trekkers, such as their names, passport numbers, routes and trekking times, will be loaded into a computerized system. This system has proven to be vital in the rescue of trekkers in case of emergencies or natural disasters.

We  will provide you your TIMS card as soon as you arrive in Nepal.
Acute Mountain Sickness

Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) can be developed at any altitude over 2000 metres if your body does not adjust with altitude. The early symptoms are headache, extreme fatigue and loss of appetite. If these symptoms develop, it is a signal that you must stay at that altitude until they have gone away. Usually, within one or two days, you will feel well and can continue your trek.
If you are resting at the same altitude and your symptoms are becomin worse, then it is necessary to descend. Worsening symptoms of AMS include increasing tiredness, severe headache, vomiting and loss of coordination. These are signs of High Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE). Increasing shortness of breathe, cough and tiredness are signs of High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE). Both HACE and HAPE can be rapidly fatal if ignored

To avoid that, your body needs acclimatization, so take your time. Being in a hurry while trekking at high altitude can be deadly!
